Charter of newsgroup alt.bommanews

Nederlandstalige versie

  1. Charter.

  2. This is the Charter for usenet newsgroup "alt.bommanews".

This English language version has not been officially accepted by voting, but rather it is the translation of the Dutch language version which has passed an official voting process and can be found here. The Dutch language version will take precedence where differences in interpretation might be possible.

  3. Subjects and content.

    1. All questions pertaining to the installation and operation of the newsreader software "B-News" and derived programs are on topic. This is primarily a peer to peer support group. B-news can be found at http://b-news.sourceforge.net/
    2. Not on topic are questions relating to the content or contents of postings made through the use of B-news or other newsposting software, and requests for such postings.
    3. Commercial announcements are expressly forbidden.
  4.
  5. Rules of conduct and Message shape.

    1. The general usenet rules as explained in RFC 1855 (http://rfc.net/rfc1855.txt) are applicable in this group. In particular: no attachments, no HTML postings, and follow-ups as described in RFC 1855.
    2. Principially, posts to this group are made with a blank or missing "Distribution:" header. Local distribution will be tolerated but discouraged until later notice and adaptation of this article. In a later stage, local distribution will be considered acceptable only for those messages of interest to users of a specific ISP or region, and be recommended for such messages.
    3. The primary language for this group is Dutch. Because the group is located in the otherwise completely English language alt.* usenet hierarchy however, messages in the English language will not be considered a breach of this charter and will be treated and answered as fully valid messages.

  6. Adaptation of this charter.

Any adaptations to this charter will be made only though RFD/CFV in the group alt.bommanews itself.

The discussion period (RFD) will extend over a minimum of 7 days. Votetaking (CFV) can extend over 7 days, or less if explicitly stated at the start of the discussion period, and subject to the condition that no requests to prolong it have been made before the end of that period.

  7. Revision history

2002/01: changed occurences of 'bommanews' to 'B-News' to reflect the real name of the software, not through RFC/CFV as it only fixes an inaccuracy.

    2001/05: initial version
